Test standard
There are many testing standards for wool and pilling of textiles abroad, including ASTM, Japanese industrial standard, German standard DIN, British standard BS, international standard ISO, etc.
Ii. Test standards and conditions
At present, there are three main domestic standards for testing the pilling of textiles:
GB/T4802.3 -- 1997 Fabric Pilling Test Method -- Pilling box Method, test conditions, no pressure;
, GB/T4802.2 -- 1997 Fabric Pilling Test Method -- Martindale Method, test conditions, under slight pressure;
3, GB/T4802.1 -- 1997 Fabric Pilling Test Method -- Circular Trajectory Pilling Test Condition, subject to slight pressure.
Test instruments
Foreign pilling testing instruments are mainly divided into the following three categories:
1) Pilling box: equivalent to domestic pilling box;
2) Flip: that is, the fabric rolls in the cylinder, causing fluff and pilling due to irregular friction;
3) Martindale style: it has two functions of testing friction and pilling.
For textile export enterprises, facing different standards of trading countries, it is more difficult to test the pilling of textiles.
From the point of view of most textile importing countries' testing methods, they are generally limited to the box-turning method and Martindale method, and the latter test is mainly used for textiles with high requirements of fluffing and pilling performance, because this method is closer to the process of people's taking.
With the internationalization of textile market, textile enterprises should learn to adapt to many foreign testing standards, including testing standards for pilling.
Iv. Test method for pilling
The pilling resistance of the fabric can be tested with various testing instruments, such as rolling box type, brush and grinding type, etc.
The analysis methods of test results are as follows:
, counting method: that is, the number of pilling in the specified area;
(2) Measuring method: namely weighing the weight of the wool balls on the fabric and falling down;
The pilling degree of the sample is determined by comparing the fabric after pilling with the standard sample. The pilling degree of the sample is divided into five levels. The smaller the level is, the more serious the pilling of the fabric is.
(4) Coordinate representation: analyze pilling degree and pilling formation and shedding rate by using vertical coordinate to represent pilling number and horizontal coordinate to represent friction time pilling curve.
The results show that there will be different evaluation results if different instruments and testing methods are used for pilling measurement, so textile enterprises should adopt corresponding testing methods according to customer requirements.

Fifthly, the process of pilling
(1) Fluff: when the fabric is subjected to repeated external friction, when the friction is greater than the fiber strength or the friction between the fibers or the holding force, the fiber ends will be pulled out to form nap, the fabric surface form nap to make the cloth lost luster;
