The test principle of
The fabric film flame transmission tester (curtain combustion tester) was developed according to NFPA 701-1. It is suitable for flame burning from the surface or bottom edge of the sample without external radiation to test the flame spread.
The dampened sample was fixed vertically in the sample combustion chamber using a pin and lit for 45s using a standard combustion lamp.
Observe and measure the combustion imagination, measure the combustion time and weight change before and after combustion.
This fabric film flame transmission tester meets but is not limited to the following standards:

The test object
This instrument is developed for method 1 in NFPA701. The test objects include curtain, stage curtain, curtain, textile screen, table cloth, etc.
This method does not apply to thicker or coated materials.

When you open the package, please check the following materials (subject to the actual contract) :
1 main engine;
A shaft pin (including nails) is used to fix the sample;
Shaft pin fasteners for fixing samples;
100mm(90mm~110mm) flame ruler
Observation window (combustion chamber) : open the front door of the instrument during testing. To keep the instrument clean, close the front door when not in use.
Air vent: Set air fan;
Timer 1, timing button 1: precision 0.1s, press the timing button 1, start timer 1, press the timer again to stop, press the yellow button on the timer to reset the timer;
Timer 2: : Precision 0.1s, press the timer button 1, start timer 1, press the timer again to stop, press the yellow button on the timer to reset the timer;
Power switch: power master switch, the indicator light on represents the power on;
Inlet pressure gauge: displays the gas pressure entering the instrument;
Pressure adjustment knob: reduce the external gas pressure to the gas available for the instrument;
Flow regulation: Regulates the flow of gas into the combustion lamp.
Lamps and lanterns to adjust
This instrument USES imported Mechler (Fisher) blowtorch for all types of gas with damper and flame trimming knobs.
The tip of the ignition needle shall be mounted on the surface of the blowtorch, about 5mm from the edge and about 5mm from the vertical.
After the flame is ignited, adjust the flow rate on the panel to make the flame size moderate, with the adjustment of the damper and the flame tuning knob, adjust the flame color.
When methane or other gases are used as gas, the flame height required in this test is 100mm and the flame is blue.
Sampling and preparation
Sampling shall be conducted in accordance with method 1 in standard NFPA 701, and appropriate fine-tuning may be performed if non-standard tests are required.
The size of the sample is 150mm×400mm, and the sample is cut along the longitude and latitude direction.
The length direction is the vertical direction, and the vertical direction of the actual use of the material is the length direction.
For measurement of multilayer samples, please refer to the requirements of NFPA 701 for suture treatment.
The sample shall be dried at 105℃ for at least 30min. If deformation or other reactions occur at 105℃, the sample shall be dried at 20℃ for at least 24h.
Samples taken in standard tests are prepared in at least 10 samples, each numbered and weighed to 0.001g prior to combustion (or modified as required).
The sample is then placed into the internal sample rack of the instrument. The sample bracket can be adjusted by screws on both sides to make the lower end of the sample level with the center of the flat burner.
The location of the sample stand is shown in the figure. The figure adjusts the high and low screws:
Make sure that the center of the blowtorch head is 25mm away from the sample after the blowtorch is laid flat (the instrument has been adjusted when leaving the factory).
Keep the gas lamp upright and turn on the gas.
Make sure that the air pressure adjustment knob, flow adjustment knob and blowtorch adjustment knob are properly opened. Press the Start button to ignite the blowtorch. If not, please check whether the air path is smooth.
Adjust the flame until the yellow flame disappears, presenting orange or blue flame, and ensure the flame height is 100mm.
Let the flame stabilize for a period of time (at least 5min is advisable).
A flame that can be used for testing is shown in the figure below:
Put the burner upside down and push the burner into the sample.
The flame starts to ignite the sample. After 45s, the system cuts off the gas and the blowtorch automatically stops burning.
Observe whether the sample starts to burn or not. For example, press timer 1 for the sample combustion, and stop the timing after the sample combustion.
At the same time, observe whether there are dripping objects. If there are dripping objects burning, press timer 1 to keep time. After the sample burning, stop the timing.
The duration of afterburn is revised to the maximum duration of combustion for samples and solids.
