1.1 Principle of testing
The limiting oxygen index tester is a mixture of O2 and N2 to measure the low oxygen concentration (molality) of ZUI required to maintain the sample combustion.
This instrument USES the mass flow controller to accurately control the flow rate of O2/N2. It mixes through the mixing chamber to fully ensure the accuracy of concentration control. It adopts the British paramagnetic oxygen sensor to coordinate with the detection of O2 concentration, with good performance.
It is manufactured for the test users with higher accuracy requirements, and can also meet the requirements of general users.

1.3 Related terms
Oxygen index: the minimum oxygen concentration of material combustion is just maintained when oxygen and nitrogen mixed gases are injected at 23±2℃, expressed in volume fraction.
1.4 Composition and use of the instrument
Display screen: conduct test operation, control and report inquiry;
Power switch: Press the switch to switch on the power;
Emergency stop button: in case of emergency, stop and cut off the power of the instrument;
Ventilation switch: Press to start ventilation and press again to stop ventilation;
Timing button: Press the combustion timing button to start the combustion timing;
O2, N2 pressure regulating switch: reduce the pressure of the external gas to the gas available for the instrument;
Pressure gauge O2, N2: Indicates the gas pressure entering the instrument;
Combustion cylinder: the position where the combustion test is carried out. The top cylinder cover provides stable gas flow.
Base: gas is supplied and the test sample is supported, with glass beads and metal mesh;
Igniter: Used to ignite gas
Samples shall be taken in accordance with material standards, and the samples taken shall be able to prepare at least 15 samples.
It can also be carried out according to GB/T 2828.1-2003 or ISO 2859-2:1985.
Note: for materials whose oxygen index is known to fluctuate within ±2, 15 samples are required.
For materials with unknown oxygen index or showing unstable combustion characteristics, 15 ~ 30 samples are required.
The oxygen index tester is a kind of instrument made according to the technical conditions stipulated by the national standard GB2406-93.
Used to determine the concentration (percentage by volume) of oxygen required by the polymer during combustion.
The oxygen index value of the polymer is the percentage of the volume of the lowest oxygen in the mixture of oxygen and nitrogen required to maintain a combustion time of 50 mm or 3 minutes after ignition of the substance.
